Customs Advice

All shipments apart from documents* travelling to destinations outside the EU require 4 copies of a commercial invoice or valued packing list.

Import duties and taxes may be payable by the receiver depending on the commodity and value of the goods.

Used personal effects are sometimes exempt but not always depending on the country.

Because of the number of countries we ship to through various carriers we are unable to advise on local customs policies. We strongly recommend you contact the relevant Country’s Embassy for advice.

* other commodities such as brochures may not require a commercial invoice. DHL provide a country by country guide via the following link: www.dhl.co.uk/publish/gb/en/information/country_details1/countrydetails.high.html

Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI)

It is now a requirement that all exporters sending freight outside of the E.U must have an EORI number if they are VAT registered.

If you are VAT registered and have been importing and exporting in the past two years, you may have received a letter from customs with your EORI number. If you are unsure you can check by entering your VAT number in the following format GB123456789000 into the EORI Number Validator (opens in a new window).

If you have any queries regarding the EORI application process then please visit the HMRC website.
