The following information outlines FedEx's policy on Restricted and Prohibited items and is accurate as of July 2011. We always recommend that your check the carriers website direct for current information.

FedEx Restricted & Prohibited Items

8.1  The following items are not acceptable for carriage to any destination unless otherwise agreed to by FedEx:
 

1. MONEY (coins, cash, currency paper money and negotiable instruments equivalent to cash such as endorsed stocks, bonds and cash letters), COLLECTABLE COINS AND STAMPS;
2. EXPLOSIVES (Class 1.3 explosives are not acceptable for carriage by FedEx. In certain countries Class 1.4 explosives may be acceptable for carriage, Customer Service should be contacted prior to shipment for details), FIREWORKS AND OTHER ITEMS OF AN INCENDIARY OR FLAMMABLE NATURE;
3. HUMAN CORPSES, ORGANS OR BODY PARTS, HUMAN AND ANIMAL EMBRYOS, CREMATED OR DISINTERRED HUMAN REMAINS;
4. SHIPMENTS TO APO / FPO ADDRESSES;
5. CASH ON DELIVERY SHIPMENTS;
6. FIREARMS, WEAPONRY, AMMUNITION AND THEIR PARTS;
7. FOODSTUFFS, PERISHABLE FOOD ARTICLES AND BEVERAGES REQUIRING REFRIGERATION OR OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL;
8. PLANTS AND PLANT MATERIAL, INCLUDING SEEDS AND CUT FLOWERS (CUT FLOWERS ARE ACCEPTABLE TO CERTAIN DESTINATIONS, INFORMATION AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST);
9. LOTTERY TICKETS, GAMBLING DEVICES WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW;
10. PERISHABLES (OTHER THAN UNDER (7)) unless advance arrangements are made;
11. PORNOGRAPHY AND/OR OBSCENE MATERIAL;
12. SHIPMENTS BEING PROCESSED UNDER the following unless advance arrangements are made:
    
    
    1. CARNETS (allow temporary import for display, etc. without duties);
    2. DRAWBACK CLAIMS (requests for refunds of import duties at time of export);
    3. TEMPORARY IMPORT BONDS (allow temporary import for repair, etc.);
    4. Letters of Credit. Shipments subject to Letters of Credit are generally prohibited, with the exception of shipments subject to Letters of Credit calling for a "courier receipt," as defined by Article 25 of USP 600, shipped using the FedEx Expanded Service International Air Waybill;
        
13. HAZARDOUS WASTE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, USED HYPODERMIC NEEDLES AND/OR SYRINGES OR MEDICAL WASTE;
14. WET ICE (FROZEN WATER);
15. SHIPMENTS REQUIRING FEDEX TO OBTAIN ANY SPECIAL LICENSE OP PERMIT FOR TRANSPORTATION, IMPORTATION OR EXPORTATION;
16. SHIPMENTS THE CARRIAGE, IMPORTATION OR EXPORTATION OF WHICH IS PROHIBITED BY ANY LAW, STATUTE OR REGULATION;
17. SHIPMENTS WITH A DECLARED VALUE FOR CUSTOMS IN EXCESS OF THAT PERMITTED (See Section 18: DECLARED VALUE AND LIMITS OF LIABILITY);
18. DANGEROUS GOODS EXCEPT AS PERMITTED UNDER SECTION 9 “DANGEROUS GOODS”;
19. DEAD ANIMALS OR ANIMALS THAT HAVE BEEN MOUNTED;
20. PACKAGES THAT ARE WET, LEAKING OR EMIT AN ODOR OF ANY KIND;
21. PACKAGES THAT ARE WRAPPED IN KRAFT PAPER;
22. LIVE ANIMALS AND INSECTS EXCEPT WHEN THE SHIPMENT IS COORDINATED AND APPROVED BY THE FEDEX LIVE ANIMAL DESK. CUSTOMERS CAN CONTACT FEDEX LOCALLY FOR MORE ASSISTANCE. HOUSEHOLD PETS AND LIVE FISH ARE NOT ACCEPTED;
23. SHIPMENTS THAT MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO, OR DELAY OF, EQUIPMENT, PERSONNEL OR OTHER SHIPMENTS.
     

FedEx excludes all liability for Shipments of such items howsoever accepted (including acceptance by mistake or under notice).

8.2  For an Intra-European Shipment sent using the FedEx International Economy service, and in addition to the items listed in Section 8.1, the following items are also not acceptable for carriage:
 

1. Packages with a value of more than EUR 5,000 (EUR 3,500 when the Recipient's address is in Austria and EUR 1,250 when the Recipient's address is in Poland);
2. Goods which are insufficiently packed;
3. Goods which require special handling or careful treatment (because they are e.g. particularly fragile or can only be transported upright or only lying on a certain side);
4. Perishable or temperature controlled goods, remains, live animals;
5. Valuable goods (e.g. money, precious metals and stones, jewelry and genuine pearls, objects of art, collector’s items, antiques);
6. Goods the damage or loss of which would result in high consequential damages (e.g. volumes with sensitive data);
7. Phone cards and pre-paid cards, e.g. for mobile phones;
8. Valuable documents (e.g. securities, acceptance bills, savings books);
9. Firearms and essential weapon parts as well as ammunition;
10. Packages whose dispatch or storage would violate applicable laws;
11. Tobacco products and liquors;
12. Personal effects and carnet ATA goods;
13. Hazardous goods of all kinds;
14. Palletized Packages;
15. Hides and furs;
16. Decomposing, infectious or repugnant goods.
     

Any Packages inadvertently accepted in violation of the above restrictions may be invoiced as FedEx International Priority service.

8.3  Additional restrictions may apply depending upon destination and service and service option used and various regulatory and customs clearances may be required for certain commodities, therefore extending the transit time. FedEx reserves the right to reject Packages based upon these limitations or for reasons of security or safety. FedEx shall be entitled to charge an administrative fee for Packages rejected and for the costs of returning goods, where applicable, to the Sender. Further information is available upon request.

8.4  The Money Back Guarantee (see Section 17) is not applicable to items unacceptable for carriage.
