Second Harvest Japan (2HJ), a non-profit organisation devoting itself to providing people in need with nutritious food, recently received a $10,000 donation from the UPS Foundation.

Having started its charitable work back in 2000, 2HJ currently works with 650 companies who donate food to the charity, which then gets distributed to 500 charitable agencies across the country.

In March 2011, the UPS Foundation also gave $1 million in relief funds in order to help with the transport of tsunami emergency supplies as well as to provide financial support. Moreover, the soup kitchen in Ueno Park, Tokyo, received huge support from UPS volunteers in October 2011.

Masato Umeno, president of UPS Japan, said:

“In addition to the transportation support, we are pleased to be able to contribute to the disaster relief effort with our grant through 2HJ. We hope to continue our support in various means including volunteer activities.”
