Yesterday, UPS announced Brendan Canavan as the new president of the UPS Asia Pacific region. The 31-UPS-veteran is going to take the lead over 40 countries and territories across Asia.
Canavan originally started out as a part-time package loader for UPS in 1981 whilst he was still reading Economics at Villanova University. Over the last three years, Canavan was able to establish an impressive track record having lead operations as a district manager in New York and Chicago as well as heading UPS Europe’s North-East District.
“Brendan’s proven track record in a range of key operational functions makes him ideally suited to lead UPS’s Asia Pacific Region, which continues to play an increasingly important role in our growth strategy”, said Dan Brutto, president of UPS International.
Whilst working in his last position in Brussels, Canavan played an important part in UPS’ acquisition of the parcel and express delivery company, Stolica. Beyond that, he helped with the expansion of various charitable actions including local employee volunteer initiatives.
Canavan is going to replace Derek Woodward who will return to the USA to lead a different project.
