Pay Raise for German Employees of Deutsche Post AG

Yesterday the German employees of Deutsche Post AG sighed with relief as the carrier and the services union, ver.di, finally set an end to their wage negotiations.
On 1st April 2012, the salaries of 130,000 employees are going to be increased by 4 percent. Moreover, Deutsche Post, who also own the courier service DHL, agreed to contribute an additional 0.5 percent to the demographic fund for age-based working solutions.
Trainees of Deutsche Post AG are also going to benefit from the wage negotiations. The logistics company decided to give their trainees a monthly pay rise of EUR 50 starting on 1st January 2012. The agreement is going to finish on 31st March 2013.
Jürgen Gerdes, Board Member at Deutsche Post DHL and currently overseeing the MAIL division, supported the negotiations: “I think it is extremely important for our employees to share in our company’s success by having good pay increases, excellent working conditions and secure jobs.”

In addition to the previously confirmed one-time gross payments back in December 2011, Deutsche Post AG also confirmed that they would extend their commitment to avoid layoffs for business reasons until 31st December 2015 as part of an employment pact.
Walter Scheurle, Board Member of the courier and logistics company, was content about the negotiations outcome:
“Together with exemplary generations pact and the one-time payment, we have put together a package that we can systematically use to achieve out goal of becoming the employer of choice.”
